Gift of Life has further refined its proprietary technology, and will soon launch a robust new online system, MatchQuest, that will include real-time donor-recipient matching. In addition to the already existing sample request functionality, physicians will have the unique ability to submit online prescriptions for bone marrow and blood stem cell collections, and coordinators will be able to manage and track the entire donor workup process from the convenience of any computer with an Internet connection and a web browser.
According to Gift of Life's Chief Information Officer, Rafi Freudenberger, "MatchQuest is life-saving technology that will revolutionize the way transplant coordinators manage their unrelated donor searches at Gift of Life." Because MatchQuest is entirely web-based, no software installation is necessary to use it. Coordinators will also benefit from enhanced services over time without the need to install upgrades.
MatchQuest is not just an interface used by transplant centers to access Gift of Life's donor database. It is a comprehensive registry management system that incorporates a series of administration modules used by Gift of Life's Search Coordinating Unit to manage searches for patients, and Donor Center to manage donor recruitment, testing and workup.
The Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation has been helping patients in crisis since 1991. Through its Registry of potential bone marrow and blood stem cell donors, Gift of Life has facilitated hundreds of transplants for seriously ill children and adults around the world. Gift of Life is a member of the World Marrow Donor Association and a participant in Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide, a collaborative database of over 8.5 million unrelated donors from over 50 international bone marrow registries.
