Gift of Life "Be a Hero" Booth at the Beth Jacob Purim Carnival!

The celebration of Purim revolves around life and survival. We are commanded to eat, drink, and be merry while fulfilling the mitzvah of giving to charity. This year, we have chosen to dedicate our Purim tzedekah to Gift of Life.
Recently, we learned about the Galena family and their mission to find a match for their1 year old daughter, Ayelet, who suffers from a rare bone marrow failure disorder. The Galenas have been working with Gift of Life to raise money to sponsor new donors and enter them into the registry.
In addition to the Galenas, we have also learned about the Finemans. Since the fall of 2010, Robin and Evan have been trying to find a match for their 2 year old son, Ezra.
Our goal this Purim is to be heroes andhelp fund some recent drives that have been run in the hopes of finding perfect matches for Ayelet, Ezra, and the many other patients who are searching every day.
Statistically, one in every 1,000 donors on the registry saves a life. If a donor typically remains in the registry for 30 years, and it costs $54 to process each kit, then every $1,800 saves a life!
Currently, there are 10,000 potential bone marrow donors that have already been tested and their kits are waiting to be sent to lab once funding is received. If you are unable to join us at the Purim events we are holding around town, please consider making a contribution today.
