July is Bereaved Parents Month. John Maddox posted this powerful quote along with the photo in the link below, “We may look as if we carry on with our lives as before. We may even have times of joy and happiness. Everything may seem ‘normal’. But this ‘EMPTINESS’ is how we feel...all the time.”

No parent should have to feel like this, especially if their child has blood cancer and a cure is as close as a stem cell or bone marrow transplant. Blood cancer is curable if a match can be found. 

360 people a day are diagnosed with blood cancer. There are over 305,000 people on the donor registry but only 3,000 transplants have been facilitated. Finding a match is very difficult. That's why it is so important to encourage as many people as possible to register. The more people are on the registry the greater the chance a match will be found and the greater the chance we have to save someone's child, sister, brother, mother, father or friend. 

A huge thank you to those who have sent in their swab kit and registered as donors. Your actions remind me that Danielle was truely loved and helps to ease my emptiness.
