Hey, my name is Brianne Dollar. I'm a bone marrow transplant recipient. On November 16th, 2017 I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Luekemia. I went through six months of intense chemotherapy but unfortunately only 7 months later, I relapsed. The only option I had with a good prognosis was a bone marrow transplant. I am so Thankful for Gift of Life and the amazing man who donated and saved my life. Everyone has the power to save of Life, and it is so little that does so much! 

These are very difficult times, and while all of our lives seem hectic, crazy, and hard right now, there are still people who need help. Blood cancer doesn’t stop for a pandemic. And many in-person drives that would recruit necessary donors for those in need of a bone marrow transplant have had to be put on hold. But transplants are still needed and still happening! Only one year ago I received the donation that would save my life, and I’m so thankful that I am still here today because of it! 

So, while you are at home, I ask you to do something incredibly simple that could save a life! All you have to do is get online, request a kit, swab your cheek, and return it. The perfect social distancing activity! And if you can’t swab, you can still help by sharing this post or possibly donating to the cause, so they can swab so many more people and ensure that no one ever has to wait for a match! I was so incredibly lucky to have donors on the registry, but so many aren’t, especially those with less common ethnic backgrounds. So please join.
