Collection Center Participation Criteria
Gift of Life has its own state-of-the-art Apheresis Center – the Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Gift of Life-NMDP Collection Center – on its Boca Raton campus. In addition, we work with Collection Centers around the United States to collect peripheral blood stem cells, bone marrow and T cells.
- Gift of Life has detailed POI (Procedures of Interaction) detailing each party's responsibilities.
- The Collection Center (CC) must follow both the WMDA Standards and Gift of Life Standards, as well as national regulations and laws.
- Gift of Life sends the CC an annual compliance survey.
- The CC must be registered by relevant governmental authorities as applicable.
- The CC should be accredited by an organization such as AABB (Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies) or FACT (Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy).
- The CC should be approved by the NMDP (National Marrow Donor Program).
- The CC Medical Director is responsible for safeguarding the health of the donor and ensuring the safety of the HPC product.
- Sufficient personnel possessing relevant experience and qualifications shall be available to support CC operations.
- The CC must have systems in place to prevent unauthorized access to donor and recipient data, both electronic and in paper format.
- The CC may not communicate with the Transplant Center unless there are exceptional circumstances and prior approval has been obtained from the Gift of Life.
