Michelle Hawkins Memorial To Life

Dear friends, in 2005, I lost my best friend to a rare form of Leukemia. She had been diagnosed with a severe form of MS, and developed Leukemia from the chemo treatments she received to keep her MS in remission.

Initially, we were told she beat the Leukemia, however, after just a couple of weeks, the Leukemia returned. Because of the MS, she was not a candidate for stem cells or a bome marrow transplant.

At the young age of 33, after all treatments were abandoned, Michelle succumbed to the Leukemia and died.

NO ONE should be refused life saving treatment for any reason if there is a reasonable chance it could be successful. Despite having beaten it once, Michelle was refused further treatment because of her MS and the fact that there were so many other people on the waiting list that did not have the complication (MS) from which Michelle suffered.

I still miss her and think about her often. She served in the Army as State side support services during Dessert Storm, then was abandoned by her country when she needed help.

Everyone should be a donor. It takes so little time and there is no pain involved with registering. The cost for the testing is only $54.00. But the payback, should you ever receive the call would mbe priceless. It can mean so much to a family that has prayed for a miracle to save the life of their loved one.

Please, give the Gift of Life so people Michelle can have another chance at life. I know times are tough right now for a lot of people financially, but I truly believe you get back what you give. Not only would you help others, you would also help yourself. There is no greater gift than the gift of life, whether it is an adult or a child. Sign up today to be a donor or supporter, and if you are not already an organ donor, don't forget to add that to your driver's license.

Thank you for joining Michelle's circle, and honoring her memory. She would be so happy to
