Alan Cohen was a great man, loved and respected by his family, friends and colleagues. He was diagnosed with leukemia in October 2009 and sadly lost his battle two months later in December. His illness ignited a movement of thousands of volunteers and supporters who worked tirelessly to find a lifesaving match. Donors entered the registry from New York to Canada to Israel, but unfortunately no match was found. With this fund, we honor Alan's memory and will continue testing donors to find matches for other patients in need.

This fall we will be sponsoring recruitment efforts at Princeton University and at Alan's alma mater, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, starting during registration. We chose to focus recruitment efforts on college campuses because younger donors will be in the registry for many years to come, thus increasing the opportunities they will have to save lives. Our goal is to rotate to two different colleges in the North East each year.
