We hope this finds you all well, and are reaching out to you today with some great news to share. Earlier this fall, Maxine received the incredible news that she is cured! It's been almost 3 years since her diagnosis and she's back to work, back to being an awesome mom and just back to being herself! We wanted to share this news with her whole donor circle - as we really feel like your thoughts, prayers and dollars were an integral part of her recovery. With the funds we raised over 1000 new potential donors were added to the bone marrow registry, which have resulted in 30 matches (6 of which have already proceeded to transplant). The average is about one in 1000, so we are feeling like our donor circle is pretty darn lucky. Many times Maxine has suggested that all the positive karma the donor circle has put out in to the world certainly came back to her in the way of healing.
The Match for Maxine donor circle will remain open in honor of Maxine's recovery and every dollar raised will be used to test new potential donors for the bone marrow registry.
