On July 23, 2009, Albert H. Marcus lost his battle with AML, an acute form of Leukemia. An educator, musician, and "serious punster", "Alby" brought joy to his family, friends, and students throughout his life. It is for this reason that "Alby's Voice" has been created to keep Alby's memory alive and to benefit others who are fighting this terrible disease.
Alby's Voice is a non-profit organization that was started by his younger brother Chuck who provided the stem cells that were necessary for Alby to receive a transplant at Cornell-Weill and New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
"Alby's Voice" will also sponsor annual drives to encourage others to submit samples of their DNA in order for them to become potential donors to those in need of a life saving transplants.
