Kathy, Nora, Max, and I have organized this site in order to register as many potential bone marrow donors as possible for as many patients awaiting transplants as possible.
Max was recently diagnosed with Idiopathic Aplastic Anemia, a condition of unknown cause in which the bone marrow fails to properly make blood cells, including white cells, red cells, and platelets. He is currently undergoing pharmacological treatment and we are optimistic that this will halt the disorder and reverse the destruction of cells. However, if this treatment is not successful, ultimately a bone marrow transplant could be required.
The success of such a procedure is enormously dependent on finding a matching donor. That is why we are asking our friends, family, and anyone with an interest in helping, to register and be tested at the Gift of Life Marrow Registry.
