To quote my good friend, Mira Elias, cancer is not cute. It sucks; you lose your hair, you're weak and the hospital becomes your home. Despite all the horrible things leukemia does physically to one's body, Mira never complained and always had a positive attitude. Her smile and laughter were contagious.
On September 21, 2011 Mira lost her battle to cancer. She wanted to live and fought like hell to stay alive.
I am raising money to support Gift of Life because not only did Mira receive one successful bone marrow transplant, but two! Without the bone marrow transplant and Gift of Life, Mira's life would have been much shorter. I am so thankful for the additional time Mira had with us and hope that I can help more people find a positive donor.
