Hello, my name is Maarit. I'm in Scouts BSA, and for my eagle scout project I decided to go into something a lot more personal. My mom, Rochelle A'Hearn, was diagnosed with acute leukemia in winter of 2022. She spent over 200 days in the hospital, undergoing chemo. Unfortunately, a few months ago the cancer returned, and my mom needs to do a lifesaving bone marrow donation to survive. It can be difficult to have a family member with leukemia without running the numbers in your head- for people of mixed race, like my mother, have around a 47% chance of finding a match. That's why I'm trying to register as many people as possible by having two drives, one on May 20th and one on May 21st. If you can't make those events, welcome! You can register right here, at no added cost.
