Calling all prayer warriors: Our dear family friend, Carolina (Colmenero) Edgeworth, has battled Triple Negative breast cancer and now she is fighting chemo-induced MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome), a blood cancer. MDS is a VERY TREATABLE cancer but it requires a bone marrow stem cell transplant. Carolina has 2 mutations that make her MDS particularly aggressive( TP53 and MECOM). If she can find a matching donor, this could save her life.

90% of donors are able to donate by giving via peripheral bone stem cell; similar to donating blood platelets and only 10% have to give through bone marrow accessed through the hip. Please consider donating and potentially sharing the gift of life.

Note: Ethnic minorities including Black /African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, and Native American populations are in greater need of bone marrow donors due to underrepresenting in donor registries. Because tissue type is inherited, patients are most likely to find a matching donor with the same ethnic background.
