StudentsCare

Statistically, 79% of requests for bone marrow donors are for those ages 18-35, with the largest cohort, 46%, being donors 18-25. With college students fitting this criteria, StudentsCare has teamed up with Gift of Life to involve our students in their efforts to help recruit potential donors through bone marrow registration drives on college campuses.

StudentsCare is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides college students with the tools and resources to engage in meaningful volunteer experiences and make a difference during their college years. Our featured program is a Hospital Buddy Program, in which college students are matched one-on-one with inpatient children being treated for cancer, many of which will have bone marrow transplants.

Our partnership with Gift of Life, gives students the opportunity to not only change lives, but also save lives. Students develop valuable leadership and professional skills while organizing the drives, and see their hard work pay off when they identify matches. This experience offers great perspective to the students who are involved and shows them that small efforts go a long way. They are taught that they can make a difference by simply dedicating their time to a cause that they are passionate about. We hope that this message translates into a lifetime of giving and caring for others.
