Swab for Yuna

Yuna is an 11-year-old Chinese/Korean girl diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia (AA) in December 2023. AA is a rare blood disorder where the bone marrow fails to produce blood cells. There are roughly only 500 new cases a year in the United States.

A marrow transplant is now Yuna's best hope for a cure. Unfortunately, finding a match for someone with Yuna’s specific heritage and genetic makeup is challenging. Her family and medical team are hopeful that the generosity of donors in marrow registries  like Gift of Life can change her fate.

It is also our hope that we can bring awareness to this issue and encourage others to be a part of the international donor database.  There are countless other patients who suffer from AA and other similar maladies (such as leukemia, lymphoma or sickle cell) who count on gracious and generous donors working through marrow registries like Gift of Life to provide life-saving bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell transplants.

Please click on the blue “Join Registry” button and start the process of testing. A testing kit will be sent to eligible donors at no cost. Thank you for taking the time to hear our story and for helping us spread the word. Our hope is for Yuna to recover and go back to being a happy and healthy child who can return to school and even attend a BTS concert.
