I first learned about the Gift of Life when I was swabbed at a campaign on campus during my freshman year of college. Recently, I joined the newly formed Young Professionals Committee because it's an amazing way to get involved and help bring in new registrants. No one in need of a bone marrow transplant should be without a potential donor, and while some people are able to find a match within their families, not everyone is that lucky. The decimation of Jewish bloodlines during the Holocaust have only further decreased the odds of finding a match. Despite the millions of people in the registry to date, many patients are still waiting for that life-saving match. In order to help increase the chances of finding a potential match for everyone in need, YPC is reaching out to young, Jewish professionals to join the registry. With a board of committed and enthusiastic people who have been touched by Gift of Life, we have launched a "swab-a-thon" to add 350 potential donors to the Gift of Life bone marrow registry over the next three months as well as raise the $54 needed for processing each kit.
My personal goal for this initiative is to add 25 new potential donors to the registry and to raise $1350 to cover the cost of processing those kits. Please help me reach my goal by joining the registry and/or donating anything you can to the cause. Even if you are already in the registry you can help save a life by getting other potential donors to join the registry, by telling your friends about our campaign, or by contributing anything you can to help cover the costs of processing new kits (all funds raised go directly towards paying the cost of processing the kits). Please spread the word and help us save lives!
Thank you for your support,
