I am working with the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation to organize a bone marrow donor recruitment drive. The donor drive will take place on February 20, 2011 at the Jewish Relief Agency (JRA) warehouse, located at 10980 Dutton Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. This is my Bat Mitzvah Project! Joining the registry is fast and easy. All that it requires is a swab of cells from the inside of your cheek, and you could save somebody’s life! My father is a three year survivor of a bone marrow transplant. He had Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) and he is a very lucky man because his sister was his marrow donor. Many people are not so lucky. More than 70% of people who require a transplant DO NOT have a related donor. I want to do something to help others suffering with leukemia, lymphoma, and other cancers in need of bone marrow transplants. I want to help them to find a match so they can survive like my abba.
You may be a miracle match for someone in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant to survive. Please join my Donor Circle and stand with me in support of Gift of Life and the patients they serve. The more donors, the better the chance of finding a match for patients waiting for life-saving bone marrow transplants.
By making a financial contribution to my Mitzvah Circle, you help to pay for cheek swab kits so that additional donors will be registered as potential bone marrow matches for patients in need. Please spread the word and help grow the Circle!
A swab of the cheek is all it takes to give someone hope!
