I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP…YOU MAY BE MY MATCH!
My name is Karen. I was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) in January, 2009. I have undergone chemotherapy treatment, endured sometimes long hospital stays, experienced a short-lived remission, and when the disease returned, I was told that I would need a bone marrow transplant.
Since my parents are elderly and my brother has health issues of his own, they are unable to be my donor. I must search for an unrelated donor whose genetic makeup is close enough to mine to save my life. I am not my diagnosis; I am a daughter, sister, aunt, caregiver, social worker and creative thinker. Those who know me best will tell you that I’ve managed to keep my sense of humor and my positive attitude, which is why I now turn to you.
Please join the Gift of Life registry – you just might be my match, but you won’t know unless you are tested! Also, please consider making a contribution to Gift of Life - just $54 will allow one kit on the waiting list to be sent to the lab to be tested, and any one of those donors could be my miracle waiting in a box!
Thank you for doing what you can…
