Last year, I had the privilege to donate stem cells to a 64-year-old man struggling with Lymphoma. After the donation, I joined the Gift of Life Young Professionals Committee (YPC) and am now working to encourage young people to join the registry. Donating felt like just the first step. There’s so much more we can do.
I share this with you because you too have the ability to help save a life. All you have to do is swab your cheek with a Q-tip. The Q-tip then gets sent to a lab where your genetic information will be entered into a national database designed to help cancer patients find their potentially life saving partner.
This summer, the Gift of Life YPC is launching its second swab-a-thon campaign. Last year, thanks to your generous support, we raised over $20,000 and added more than 350 new potential donors to the registry. This year, a generous anonymous donor has a agreed to match the money raised dollar for dollar up to our goal of $20,000. That means if we are able to hit our goal we will raise $40,000 which equates to potentially saving over 700 lives!!!
How can you help save a life? By donating (even $5 helps), by swabbing, or by encouraging your friends to swab.
Thanks for your support!
