Summer 2011 I found out I was the match for a ten year-old boy with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Unfortunately he found me too late -- he waited so many years to find his match that by the time he received my stem cells, his disease was already too advanced. He passed away this past February, just six months after the donation.
As my little boy and his family waited for years, so too are many other people waiting today for their miracle match. Sometimes they can't find their match because that person never swabbed their cheek to join the worldwide registry. Sometimes they can't find their match because although the person swabbed, their kit is still waiting for the funds to be processed by the lab.
In the memory of my little boy I am asking friends and family to help support this cause, which has become very close to my heart.
If you're not in a registry, please order a kit through my Donor Circle and join today! You could be someone's miracle match!
If you're already in a registry (or unable to join), please make a donation to cover the cost of the backlog of unprocessed kits! Each kit costs $54 to process, but any amount can help. Even in this way you can play an important role in saving someone's life.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me!
