Jennifer is a 50-year-old wife and mom of three girls ages 22, 19, and 13, and a nursing student. In August, she went to the emergency room feeling run down and having unexplained blood pressure and heart rate fluctuations. Doctors there told her they suspected leukemia, and she was soon transferred to MD Anderson Cooper in Camden where her diagnosis of acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) was confirmed.
To defeat AML and recover her health, Jennifer needs a peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) or marrow transplant from a donor who shares her same tissue type.
That’s where you come in! You could be Jennifer’s lifesaving hero without even knowing it. All it takes is a swab of your cheek to find out if you are a match for Jennifer or another patient in need. Her best chance of a match is with someone who shares her genetic heritage.
If you are of general European/Caucasian ancestry, please join the registry today.
Our goal is to help her beat this diagnosis and get her back to nursing school. Being there for her three daughters means everything to her. Let’s make sure this beautiful family has an incredible future together.
Jennifer’s husband and biggest supporter, Mike, has been by her side throughout this entire journey. She is a proud alumna of Rowan University.
Jennifer was an active volunteer in her town’s school system and other events, as well as at Fig Leaf, a non-profit pay-as-you-can thrift store focused on serving those in need in the local community. She also tutored English as a second language to adults through the Literacy NJ program. To relax, Jennifer enjoys sitting on the porch, working in the garden, spending time with friends, and reading.
