After a battle with leukemia, it is with profound sadness that we report the passing of Jorge Gonzalez.

Unfortunately, no match was found. Words are inadequate to express our sympathies to Jorge's loved ones. His legacy will live on through the fond memories of his friends and family, and the many lives that will be saved as a result of the thousands of people tested on his behalf.

Jorge Conrado Gonzalez was born to Jorge Vinicio Gonzalez and Argentina Sanchez on February 21, 1976 in Bayaguana, Dominican Republic. He had three brothers, Jorge H. Gonzalez, Arvin Gonzalez and Temistocle Francisco Alberto. At a young age, Jorge had a son, Jorge V. Gonzalez Berihuete.
In 1997, Jorge migrated to the US to pursue a better life. On June 19, 2008, he married Vilma Vargas and through this marriage, he acquired a step-son, Nicholas Vargas. Together they had a daughter, Samantha Gonzalez. Jorge and Vilma lived in the Bronx, New York.
Jorge was loving, compassionate, dependable and humble. He made people laugh, enjoyed being with his family, listening to music and watching action movies, and was a faithful Catholic. Jorge was fascinated with cars and liked fixing things around the house.
On August 4, 2017, Jorge was diagnosed with acute mylogenous leukemia. He had five chemotherapy treatments and even though there were two half-match donors for a bone marrow transplant, he never reached remission due to complications with his aggressive disease. Jorge lost his battle to cancer August 29, 2018.
