Miami-Dade County is proud to partner with Gift of Life Marrow Registry to help save lives and give patients battling blood cancer and other blood-related diseases a second chance at life.
Through this official Miami-Dade County Donor Circle, we are bringing together residents, employees, and community partners to make a lifesaving impact. Our goal is to raise awareness, encourage more people to join the registry, and help fund the processing of swab kits that could lead to lifesaving matches for patients around the world.
Gift of Life Marrow Registry is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping patients in need of blood stem cell or marrow transplants. For individuals battling leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell disease, inherited immune disorders, and more than 75 other diseases, finding a matching donor can mean the difference between life and death.
Why does your participation matter?
Finding a matching donor depends on inherited immune system markers called Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA), which are closely linked to ancestry. With Miami-Dade County's incredibly diverse population, our community has a unique opportunity to help expand the registry and improve the chances of finding matches for patients from all backgrounds.
Joining the registry is simple. A quick cheek swab is all it takes to begin the process of potentially saving someone's life. Your swab is tested for HLA markers, and the results are added to an international donor database to help patients worldwide find compatible donors. Your personal information remains confidential.
1. Join the Registry
If you are between 18 and 35 years old and in general good health, click the blue Join Registry button above to request a swab kit delivered directly to your home. Those 36 and older are asked to help cover the cost of processing their kit. One simple cheek swab could make you someone's lifesaving match!
2. Make a Donation
Every swab kit costs $60 to process and add to the registry. By clicking Give to Circle, you can sponsor a kit or contribute any amount to support our community's collective impact. Every donation brings us one step closer to finding another lifesaving match.
3. Spread the Word
Help Miami-Dade County reach even more potential lifesavers! Use the Share button to post this Donor Circle on social media, send it to friends and family, or encourage coworkers and community organizations to get involved.
