Adaptive is spearheading a Pacific Northwest biotech community stem cell donor drive to grow the registry for the Gift of Life, a non-profit organization dedicated to engaging the public to facilitate transplants to potentially cure patients with blood cancers and other life-threatening blood disorders.
Every time a patient needs a transplant, there is an urgent search for a donor, particularly for more rare ethnicities. Often, when a patient needs a transplant to survive a life-threatening illness, they must rely on an unrelated donor. There is a particularly urgent need for volunteers of minority ethnic backgrounds to participate as donors. Less than half of patients of minority ethnic backgrounds who desperately need a transplant can find a match, so it is critical to have broad participation in the registry to improve the chances that matches will be found for them. Therefore, we are hoping to have as many people as possible (>18 years old) come to the Agora Conference Center from 2-5pm to do a simple and painless cheek swab.

Whether you are registering as a new donor or just want to learn more about how you can help the Gift of Life, we encourage you to attend. It will also be a nice way to participate in a regional event with fellow biotech colleagues who share the mission of helping others with life-threatening diseases. Feel free to bring friends and family as well! We are excited to host people who want to take a few minutes out of their day to potentially save a life!
**Please note this event is not exculsive to the Biotech Community and anyone is able to attend.
