Graeme Ossey, a 31-year-old Jewish resident of Chicago, finally met the 4-year-old Dighton boy whose life he saved two years ago after donating bone marrow through the Gift of Life Marrow Registry. The emotional meeting took place last week during the Gift of Life’s Steps for Life 5k Run & Walk, held at Florida Atlantic University.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Cris Carter is helping Gift of Life Marrow Registry fight leukemia and other blood diseases with a special Super Bowl LIV celebration in Miami Beach on Jan. 29. Carter, a former wide receiver for the Eagles, Vikings and Dolphins, will host Gift of Life’s "LIV Life" Party at Bodega Taqueria y Tequila, 1220 16th St., Miami Beach. The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Five-year-old honorary Dighton firefighter Grant Medeiros and 31-year-old Graeme Ossey already had a lot in common when they met for the first time recently in Boca Raton, Florida. Ossey was Grant’s bone marrow donor and they recently got a chance to meet each other at the Gift of Life Marrow Registry’s Steps for Life 5k Run/Walk South Florida.

Four-year-old Grant Medeiros of Dighton was diagnosed with leukemia in 2017. He’s spent several long stints in Boston Children’s Hospital, has had multiple surgeries, and received a bone marrow transplant in June 2018. Now that he’s cancer-free, Grant was able to meet the man who helped save his life.
