Dear Friends,
Thanks to you, Gift of Life gave hope to more patients in 2008 than any other single year in our history! Your support gave 99 patients the greatest gift of all - the gift of a second chance at life.
If you are a current supporter, I would like to share with you how we put your money to work. If you are a prospective supporter, please consider joining the Gift of Life family in 2009; I hope you will agree it is the charitable investment of a lifetime!
In 2008, your contributions enabled us to:
- Field 6,498 patient searches;
- Manage 1,453 donor test requests;
- Enroll 9,517 new bone marrow donors;
- Collect 1,015 cord blood units;
- Conduct 397 donor drives.
MOST IMPORTANT, YOU MADE 99 TRANSPLANTS POSSIBLE FOR PATIENTS IN NEED! NONE OF THESE ACCOMPLISHMENTS WOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT YOU. WE APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT, AND HOPE YOU WILL INCLUDE GIFT OF LIFE IN YOUR CHARITABLE GIVING PLANS FOR 2009.
The recent presidential campaign proved that every gift counts - no matter how large or small. At Gift of Life, the power of one is our mantra! After all, it only takes one person to save a life, and that person could be you!
It costs $54 to test a donor for the registry, and our goal is to recruit at least 10,000 NEW donors in 2009! Our goal may be ambitious, but it is certainly attainable with your help.
I wear many hats at Gift of Life - founder, executive director and development coordinator just to name a few. But the hat that gives me the greatest satisfaction is the one I wear as a patient advocate sharing my experience as a transplant recipient. It is under that title that I wish you and your families a Happy, Healthy 2009.
