For over a century “SOS” has been known as the international Morse code signal of distress. Now, it is also an urgent call to action to save the life of a six year old girl named Sami who is in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant. The campaign “Save Our Sami” appeals to healthy, committed volunteers between the ages of 18 to 45 to join the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry with a simple cheek swab.
Sami is the apple of her parents’ eyes. A self-proclaimed princess, Sami is a loving daughter, a proud sister, and an outgoing friend. She’s a firecracker with a personality far bigger than her frame. And she has a big obsession with a Firework named Katy Perry. She loves everything a little girl her age would love, and more. But tragically that joy may not last for long. You see, Sami was diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening genetic disease called Fanconi Anemia. Thankfully, the condition can be treated successfully with a bone marrow transplant. That is, if a matching donor can be found.
That’s where you come in.
So far no matches have been found for Sami, and time is of the essence. There are four things you can do immediately to help save her life:
-
-
Make a tax-deductible $60 donation to cover the laboratory expense of testing each donor at
our Donate Now page.
-
Spread the word to your friends, family, business associates and charitable foundations and philanthropists about the need for donors and funding. Use Social Media to accelerate the process.
