South Florida was buzzing with excitement during the 2024 Copa America soccer tournaments held in Miami. The Clevelander Hotel on South Beach partnered with Krü e-sports, co-owned by Lionel Messi and Sergio Agüero, to bring together Argentinian players from yesteryear for its Fan Fest watch parties.
In support of the ongoing search for a matching stem cell donor for Ignacio Edenburg who’s battling blood cancer, the Clevelander raised funds to help add new donors to the registry. Clevelander South Beach VP of Operations Bruce Siegel presented Gift of Life’s Director of Development Robyn Malek with a check for $8,500 during the July 14 watch party.
Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne A. Jones attended, as well as Miami Beach City Commissioner Alex Fernandez, newly appointed Fire Chief Digna Abello, the first female fire chief to serve in Miami Beach, and Fire Division Shift A Chief Alan Lopez.
In addition, Gift of Life’s Recruitment Team was on hand with our Campus Ambassadors from local colleges to man swabbing tables and give soccer fans their chance to save a life.
If you didn’t get the chance to join the registry at the watch party and would like your chance to help save the life of someone battling blood cancer or another life-threatening disease, please click here to order a registration kit complete with cheek swabs to be sent to your home.
Thank you to the Clevelander South Beach for your support of our lifesaving mission!
