Meet Becca: a new AI voice agent to help us stay connected to every donor

May 13, 2026 by Gift of Life News

With more than half a million volunteers in our registry, staying in touch with every donor is one of the most important things the registry can do — and one of the hardest, especially as the registry grows.

Registration starts with a simple cheek swab, but it doesn't end there. Donors move. Phone numbers change. Life happens. And somewhere between the day someone joins the registry and the day a patient urgently needs them, contact can slip. Not for lack of care — it's just not possible to reach out personally to 550,000+ potential donors to update their information and remind them that their heroic participation could one day save a life. And Gift of Life is growing by tens of thousands every year.

That's why we're introducing Becca, an AI voice agent built to help us close that gap.

Becca will strive to reach every person in the registry at various touch points to refresh information and re-engage our donors. This increases the likelihood that when matches are found, our donors are reachable, informed, and ready to commit to patients in need.

"Our team at Gift of Life does incredible work," said Founder and CEO Jay Feinberg. "This initiative is about ensuring we have the most up to date information, doing what otherwise is simply not possible as our registry grows — checking in with every donor at a scale we cannot achieve alone. When donors are informed, connected, and prepared, more patients find their matches. More lives are saved. It really is that simple."

How it works

Becca is trained to give donors a convenient way to update their contact information and availability, so we can always reach them when they're found as a match. Every call begins with a clear disclosure: donors are told they're speaking with an AI agent and asked for their agreement continue.

As technology evolves, so does our ability to support donors and save lives. By combining compassionate human care with tools like Becca, we can stay more connected to the people who make saving lives possible — so that when a patient's second chance arrives, their heroic donor is ready to answer the call.
