2027 Steps for Life South Florida 5k | Gift of Life
Jan 31, 2027
Three years ago, I lost my beloved Jared (z”l). Not a day goes by that I don’t miss him.
This is a way for me to keep his memory alive—and to honor the extraordinary gift that gave us 17 more years with him.
When Jared (z”l) needed a life-saving donor, his best match was found through the Gift of Life Marrow Registry. Because of the extraordinary generosity of a complete stranger—someone who never knew Jared (z"l), but was willing to step forward and donate—Jared (z"l) was given an incredible gift:
17 more years of life.
Seventeen more years of memories.
Seventeen more years of family, milestones, laughter, and love.
I can never repay that stranger for what they gave our family. But I can try to pay that gift forward.
That is why I am asking you to help me support the Gift of Life Marrow Registry. Your donation helps cover the cost of testing cheek-swab kits and adding new potential donors to the registry.
$300 helps add FIVE new donors.
$600 helps add TEN new donors.
Your $60 is not just paying for a laboratory test.
IT’S ONE MORE PERSON WHO COULD SAVE A LIFE.
It’s one more chance that a patient waiting for a life-saving transplant could find their match.
It’s one more chance that two strangers can find each other.
And for me, it’s one more way to take the gift Jared (z"l) received and help give someone else the chance to have more time with the people they love.
Thank you for remembering Jared (z”l), for supporting this mission, and for helping me turn one family’s gratitude into hope for many others.
With love and gratitude,
Wendy
