Summary Statement
As we grow to over 150 employees, Gift of Life is seeking a strategic and values-driven Chief People Officer (CPO) to lead our Human Resources department and align our people strategy with our mission. This executive role will oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle—from hiring and development to engagement and compliance—and will directly supervise our HR Director. This is a rare opportunity to shape a people-first culture within a high-impact nonprofit, contributing directly to saving lives while supporting our team’s growth, development, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Talent Acquisition & Retention: Design and lead a forward-thinking talent acquisition strategy that supports organizational growth, enhances organizational brand, and ensures a high-performing workforce. Build scalable hiring processes, strengthen candidate experience, and implement workforce planning to attract and retain mission-aligned talent.
- People Strategy: Develop and lead a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with organizational goals and culture
- Employee Experience: Foster a workplace culture that drives engagement, well-being, and professional fulfillment.
- Leadership Development: Design and implement programs to grow leadership capabilities and succession planning.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations; staying up to date on changes in employment laws and regulations; collaborating with legal counsel on compliance matters.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and support the HR Director in executing day-to-day people operations.
- Organizational Design: Support executive leadership in structuring and scaling teams for growth and impact.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior or C-level HR role.
- Demonstrated expertise in employee engagement, leadership development, talent management, and compliance.
- Strong people leadership and change management skills.
- Excellent communication and strategic planning abilities.
- Experience in high-growth, mission-driven, or nonprofit organizations is highly desirable.
- State labor laws and federal HR compliance regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in organizational development or HR systems implementation.
- Experience working within healthcare, non-profit, or regulated industries.
