I am so happy to say that I had a successful transplant at Memorial Sloan Kettering
on September 21, 2012. I've just passed my 6 month mark and everyday is a miracle to me. I'm still stunned and in awe of the transplant process. My fabulous donor (whom I hope to meet one day) was a 10/10 match and unrelated to me. My cells have successfully turned over to become all hers, even my blood type has changed to hers. My blood work is perfect as well. Her generosity saved my life. I am forever thankful to her and my family and friends and doctors who have been with me every step of the way.
Also, it's so exciting that we have all helped to find matches for other people through our donations to Gift of Life! What a great feeling and accomplishment.
