In honor of World Cancer Day, Gift of Life is proud to announce that its partnership with the McKesson Foundation has resulted in 5,000 committed donors joining the international marrow registry. The McKesson Marrow Drive campaign, which began in January 2016, has led to six matches and a successful marrow transplant in March 2017.
Gift of Life extends its heartfelt thanks to every McKesson employee, family member and friend who has joined the registry in the hopes of saving the life of a patient battling blood cancer.
The McKesson Foundation provides financial support for the campaign, which recruited donors by holding internal registration drives during voluntary biometric screenings, a “friends and family” referral campaign, and sponsorship of drives with a focus on McKesson’s partner universities and the communities where its employees live and work.

McKesson relies on the close involvement and support of the company's network of employee resource groups, reflecting the urgent need for marrow donors of diverse backgrounds. The Foundation is continuing its efforts to grow the registry and enable more lifesaving matches for those suffering from 80 forms of blood cancers and inherited immune disorders.
