Family: a group of persons united by the ties of marriage, adoption, or blood.
Dear Michelle,
750 days ago from this writing, I had the privilege to connect with you. Not on a networking or professional level, but on a biological and spiritual one.
A relationship that just a few decades ago wouldn’t be possible was as real as the words in this letter.
Though I did not realize it then, December 18th, 2017, was the most profound and meaningful day of my life. One could argue it defined the explicit reason for my existence.
This ordinary December day was the Universe’s gift of 750 more days for you to spend with Koresh, Talia, Eric, and the rest of your loved ones — and you made the most of it.
You got to travel with your family to Alaska, one of the most beautiful places on the planet. You saw your daughter, Talia, graduate from college. You hit the 30th-anniversary mark with your incredibly kind-hearted husband, Koresh.
And we became family.
I envisioned that you, me, and our families would have another 30 years together. But it was not in the cards.
Death is a sad, mysterious, and crucial part of life. Through death and our desire to avoid it, we appreciate life. But this observation does not make it any easier to say goodbye.
Michelle, you will be missed. Not only by your immediate friends and family, but by your most unexpected family, too. I am so grateful I got to know such a kind, honest, and beautiful person.
It was the greatest honor of my life to add two more years to yours.
Michelle Sion, may you Rest In Peace.
