New concept to grow businesses and contributions

As a business owner, I am always faced with the challenge of how I can both build my business and grow my contributions to worthy causes at the same time. Over the years, my husband David and I have watched the good that Gift of Life has done, and this year, even created our own donor circle to build our own network and get people registered in the database. Capitalizing on the concept of the “Gift of Life Donor Circle,” we have created a concept that will be put into place within our agency. We have committed to donate a portion of our profits to Gift of Life from any new clients who contract with our agency through a Gift of Life referral.


Our relationship with Gift of Life began over six years ago, when my husband David was swabbed at a drive within his company to find a match for the sibling of a co-worker.  We never gave it much thought until two years later when he received the call that he was a potential match.  Dave donated stem cells to an 11 year old girl in Greece.  A year later, we were exchanging letters, e-mails and phone calls with this now healthy little girl whose life he had saved.  Then, a few weeks ago, Dave received a call that he may be a potential match for a 66 year old woman with leukemia, and so the process begins again. Our story brings back our commitment to the mission of Gift of Life and we hope that you will feel the same.


I have been developing this idea and feel that with the combination of a weak economy and the fact that charitable giving is on a downward turn, this concept can help grow businesses and
increase contributions to Gift of Life at the same time. Consideration is being given to dedicating a section of the Gift of Life website for companies who are looking to do business with other companies within the Gift of Life community and the donation pledge based upon these direct leads. This will help businesses and individuals connected to the Gift of Life family, and generate huge contributions to GOL from the corporate world. It is very simple – a link will be created on the website that will contain a database of businesses that agree to be a partner with Gift of Life. Ideally, the database will be broken down into categories of businesses i.e. financial services, printing companies, event and meeting planners, etc. So, for example, if a financial services company needs a meeting planner, they can check the database, call and say that they found the meeting planner on Gift of Life’s website. Once a contract is made between the two parties, ten percent of the revenue will be given directly to Gift of Life.
