Purim Party in Memory of Ayelet z”l

On March 4th, the Sisterhood at East Meadow Jewish Center (EMJC), located in East Meadow, NY, held a Purim Party for the children of their community in memory of Ayelet, a toddler who recently lost her battle with a rare bone marrow disease. Jennifer, the coordinator for the event, learned about Ayelet when she came across her Facebook fan page and blog and read her incredibly moving story.

After searching our website and learning about our mission to save the lives of patients in need of bone marrow transplants, she sent away for a swab kit online to register as a potential bone marrow donor.

How One Man Inspired 46 People to Join the Registry

Marc, a congregant at Beth Haverim Shir Shalom, and his family experienced a great loss in 1986: his daughter, Michelle, lost her life to leukemia because a bone marrow donor was never found. However, that loss inspired “Michelle’s Mitzvah Group,” a living memorial to honor Michelle’s memory.
